Youngsters draw at Rochdale...

THE SADDLERS' youth team played out a 1-1 draw at Rochdale.

"We started the game well," said Academy coach, Graham Biggs. "We took the lead in the tenth minute when Jacob Hobbis made a positive run from the edge of our own area before crossing onto the head of Danny Griffiths who made no mistake to open the scoring.

"Although we continued to push on and dominate the opening period, we failed to extend our lead.

"We were unable to really get our passing game going as we would have liked in the second half and we struggled to link-up the play as we had done before the break.

"Our hosts managed to equalise with around ten minutes to go and it made for an exciting finale to the game as both sides pushed for the winner.

"In the end it wasn't to be as honours ended even."

WALSALL: R. Jones, Sinton (Ashmore), Henry, Flanagan, Christopherou, Preston, Hobbis, Heath, Griffiths, Rush (Kinsella), Reid (McKenzie). Subs not used: Garner, Bakayoko.
