CAPTAIN'S ROLE FOR BUTLER

12 March 2013

Skipper looking to maintain form...

ANDY Butler played a captain’s role as we came home from Swindon Town on Saturday with a point from a 2-2 draw.

The Saddlers showed great character to come from behind twice to extend our unbeaten run as we go into tonight's game against another side with promotion aspirations, Tranmere Rovers.

“It was a deserved point,” he said. “We could have sneaked it in the end, but we went there and played some good football against a very good side.

“It shows how far we have come as a team. We’re striving to get better all of the time and this was another pleasing performance.

“We were unfortunate with the goals that we conceded, but it was a great team effort to bounce back twice and cause them problems.

“Everyone knows their roles and what it expected of them; the Gaffer has us playing the way he wants us to play and it is reaping its rewards.

“The front players we have here can cause problems for any team at this level and now we are looking forward to the next challenge against Tranmere tonight.

“They have done exceedingly this season to maintain their challenge at the top and it is up to us to prove how good we are at home.

“We’ll give them respect, but it’s another chance for us to push on and get some more points on the board. We drew at their place earlier in the season when we weren't in the best of form and should have won, to be honest.

“Every game is important right now as we look to maintain our good form.”
