T&T TOUR FOR SADDLERS

26 June 2013

Boost to pre-season preparations...

THE SADDLERS’ preparations for the new season have been handed a boost with the news that we will spend a week in Trinidad & Tobago.

The players and coaching staff will make the 4,500-mile journey on Wednesday, July 3rd and will be guests of Central FC, a TT Pro League outfit who were founded by former Dundee and Gillingham player, Brent Sancho, and are managed by Terry Fenwick.

Whilst over there, we will face three matches – against a Trinidad & Tobago XI, a League Select XI and our hosts, Central FC.

We will also undertake coaching within the community and attend local schools as well as meeting the Mayor of San Fernando.

“This is a fantastic opportunity for the club,” said manager, Dean Smith. “We had been looking for somewhere to go on tour since the end of last season and this fits in perfectly with our schedule.

“A mutual friend put Kevin Harrison, who I know from my time at Leyton Orient when he worked for The PFA, and who is also involved with the Football Players Association of Trinidad & Tobago, in touch with me and it has gone from there.

“We will take part in three games and also get involved with the local community, so it’s going to be a really productive and worthwhile seven days.

“As good as our training ground is, it’s always nice to be able to get away and spend some time in different surroundings.

“This experience is going to be extremely beneficial to us and hopefully those people that we meet along the way.”
