Full-back up against one of his former clubs on the opening day of the new season...
RELIABLE full-back, Andy Taylor, is happy with The Saddlers’ start to the 2013/14 season after we were handed a home clash with one of his former clubs, Tranmere Rovers, on the opening day of the campaign.Taylor originally joined Rovers on loan during the 2007/08 season before completing a permanent switch to Prenton Park in January 2008. He went on to make over 80 appearances for the club before leaving for Sheffield United in the summer of 2009.
“When the fixtures come out you always look for when the games against your former clubs crop up,” he admitted. “First and foremost it’s good that we are starting the season at home in front of our own supporters and for it to be against Tranmere is an added bonus.
“I enjoyed my time there; they will provide a tough test for us because they are a competitive team who started last season very well.
“There are some tough fixtures in the opening month, but these are the games that you want to be involved in. It’s a strong League this year so all matches will be challenging, but we are looking forward to them.”
