Academy Manager pleased with start of pre-season...

THE SADDLERS' youth team have started their pre-season programme of matches with a 3-1 victory at local non-League outfit, Pelsall Villa, and a 1-1 draw with Bristol Rovers.

"I have been pleased with some of the quality we have displayed in these opening games," said Academy Manager, Neil Woods. "We've done very little positional, tactical and technical work so far, the emphasis has been mainly on fitness.

"Both games have served their purpose and given us food for thought. As I say, we've played some nice football and worked hard.

"It's always nice to get going again and it's about getting ready and well prepared for when the season gets underway. I have certainly been encouraged by what I have seen so far."

A young Saddlers side head for Halesowen Town on Wednesday evening (kick-off 7.30pm).
