SMITH ON VICTORY AT HARRIERS

15 July 2013

Boss pleased with performance...

SADDLERS' boss, Dean Smith was pleased with our work-out at the weekend as we overcame the challenge of Kidderminster Harriers by two goals to one.

"It was a good run-out for us," he said. "It was an extremely hot day, but we were already acclimatised having spent the past week in Trinidad & Tobago.

"The lads acquitted themselves well and I felt that we controlled the game for long periods.

"It was nice to win and get two good goals, but also it was a very worthwhile test for us against competitive and well-organised opposition.

"We have a number of trialists on board, so it gave us the opportunity to take a closer look at them in a game situation."

There is more action on Tuesday evening as we head to Alfreton Town.

"This will be another competitive encounter," added Smith. "I know their manager, Nicky Law, from my days at Hereford United and he will have his team well prepared and up for the task.

"We will go there looking to get more vital minutes into the players as our preparations continue to step up a pace."

Craig Westcarr and Romaine Sawyers were on target at Aggborough.
