SAWYERS TO SEIZE CHANCE

19 July 2013

New signing happy to be here...

ROMAINE Sawyers checked back into Banks’s Stadium today having signed a one-year deal with a further year’s option.

The 21 year-old ended last season on loan with The Saddlers having found his path to the first-team blocked at West Bromwich Albion, where he impressed whilst coming through the ranks.

“This is a good opportunity for me,” he said without hesitation. “I’m really pleased to have signed. Once I knew that Walsall wanted me, it was an easy decision to come here.

“Dean Smith has been good to me and I am looking forward to working closely with him and the coaching staff here.

“Everyone is together and pulling in the same direction. We have a good group here; there’s a nice mix of younger players and more experienced heads.

“It’s a nice environment in which to learn and develop as a player. I will be doing all that I can to perform on a consistent basis and take this chance.

“I know that if I work hard I will be okay and that is exactly what I intend to do.

“There are some big games to look forward to during the season ahead and hopefully we can build on where we left off at the end of last season.”
