SMITH REFLECTS

Boss on set-back at Colchester...

SADDLERS' boss, Dean Smith has reflected on our 2-0 defeat at Colchester United.

"We were excellent during the first half," he said. "We controlled the game on and off-the-ball but after the break the game became too narrow and stretched.

"All runs have to come to an end at some time, but I am proud of the run that the lads have been on over the past eight games and now we have to make sure that we bounce back and are ready to go again.

"It was an even-steven type of game and I felt that neither side deserved to win it really. We passed the ball well during the first half and opened them up a couple of times but the game had 0-0 written all over it until that got their noses in front with what was a disappointing goal for us to concede.

"After the goal, the game opened up and we got caught out trying to get an equaliser.

"There was no complacency from us; we came here knowing it would be tough and they would come at us out of the blocks. They've been able to bring some good players in recently.

"We'll pick ourselves up and be ready for the next game."
