Midfield ace signs for The Saddlers...
THE SADDLERS have completed the signing of Sam Mantom on an 18-month contract.
The 20 year-old has impressed during his second loan spell at the club from Premier League neighbours, West Bromwich Albion, where he has put in some hard-working displays in the engine room of the side.
With his path to the first-team blocked at The Hawthorns, the technically-gifted midfield man was keen to commit his future to The Saddlers.
“I am really pleased that we were able to complete this deal,” said manager, Dean Smith. “Sam is a great acquisition for us. He’s a young player who understands the game.
“We know all about him and what he will bring to us; he has hunger and a great attitude to progress.
“He’s enjoyed his loan spells here and was keen to commit himself to our cause.”
Coming through The Baggies’ ranks, Mantom signed his first professional contract in May 2010 and that progress continued when he was handed a longer deal 12 months later.
He has previously enjoyed successful loan spells with Icelandic outfit, Haukar, Tranmere Rovers and Oldham Athletic as well as The Saddlers.
