DARLOW GLAD TO BE BACK

2 January 2013

Loan 'keeper marks return with clean sheet...

KARL Darlow made a successful return to The Saddlers' goal by keeping a clean sheet in our 1-0 New Year's Day victory over Stevenage.

“I am delighted to be back,” he said after putting pen-to-paper on an initial one-month deal with a view to extending it for the remainder of the season. “I was gutted when I had to go back to Forest as cover because of an injury to one of the ‘keepers. I just want to be out there playing games and this move gives me that opportunity again.

“I’ve worked hard to get myself ready because I knew that I would be going out on loan again in January, so to come back here is an added bonus because it’s a good club to be part of and now I want to help the team climb back up the table.

“We played some good football during my first spell here and from what I gather that has continued, we’ve just not had the luck in terms of getting the wins to go alongside our performances.

“It was nice to come back in and keep a clean sheet in the last game against Stevenage. They are a well-organised side, but we put in a battling display where the boys at the back won their headers and the lads up front held the ball up well.

“If we can continue to show this kind of grit and determination, we will be okay. We have to be ready to go again on Friday evening; Portsmouth have had their troubles this season, but they have some experienced players in their side and we know that we are going to have to work hard to get the points.

“It’s about concentrating on what we do and it would be nice to think that we can build on Tuesday’s win and get another three points in front of the live Sky TV cameras to continue our impressive recent home form."
