Talented wide-man looks to kick on...

THERE'S a definite feel-good factor at Banks's Stadium right now and in the wake of Saturday's victory over high-flying AFC Bournemouth, our sixth success in the last seven games, came the news that wide-man, James Baxendale had penned a new 18-month deal.

The talented 20 year-old arrived at the club during the summer and has put in some impressive displays so far to go alongside memorable goals against Portsmouth and in both games against Preston North End.

"I'm really pleased to sign this new deal," said the former Leeds United youngster. "This is a good club and I've really enjoyed it here.

"This is my first real season of playing first-team football and I feel that I have adapted well to the demands. The style of play here really suits my game and, from the manager down, there is an excellent spirit around the place.

"I feel that my game has come on in leaps and bounds since I have been here and now that I have signed this deal, I really want to kick on and progress.

"We're in a good run of form and we are all working hard to keep it going. We know what we have to do and exactly what is required of us; everyone is prepared to roll their sleeves up and give their all for the cause.

"Personally I just want to keep my place in the team, help Walsall win matches and excite the fans. I've been made to feel so welcome here and, like the rest of the lads, I am excited about what the future holds in store."
