Saddlers head into Walsall Senior Cup Final...

THE SADDLERS were made to work hard to secure our place in the Walsall Senior Cup Final as we overcame the challenge of Sutton Coldfield Town by a single goal on a chilly night at Banks's Stadium.

A late strike from first-year professional, Kieron Morris, clinched our place in the Final.

"In difficult conditions, full credit must be given to our opponents for the way in which they approached the game," said boss, Neil Woods. "They made life difficult for us throughout and did well.

"I was disappointed with the quality that we were able to produce on the night. Without playing the football that we would have liked, we created a few chances during the opening period that we were unable to take.

"It was better after the break in terms of possession, but we lacked a cutting edge.

"I was pleased to see our goal go in late on to win the tie. We played much better in our last reserve game and lost, so we need to find more consistency at this level."

WALSALL: Grof, George, Benning, Featherstone (Heath), Preston, Holden, Baxendale (Flanagan), Morris, A. Williams, Bowerman, Hemmings. Subs not used: Griffiths, Hobbis, Roberts.
