Full-back delighted to commit himself to The Saddlers...
ANDY Taylor has admitted his relief and delight at signing a new 18-month contract here at Banks’s Stadium. The reliable full-back has put his injury nightmare from his Sheffield United days well and truly behind him to become a key member of The Saddlers’ squad.
“It’s a big relief to sign this deal,” he said. “Having been injury-cursed during the past couple of years and then finding myself looking for a club to take a chance on me during the summer, it’s great to have the security that will allow me to concentrate on my football.
“The injury that I suffered during my time at Sheffield United meant that I needed to prove to myself and others that I can play regularly and perform to a certain level, and I feel that I have done that.
“Coming here has allowed me to do that and it has proved to be the right environment for me to progress, so I had no hesitation in committing myself to the club with this deal.”
Taylor knows what to expect as Oldham Athletic arrive here on Saturday looking to build upon their FA Cup exploits last weekend.
“It will be a high tempo game,” he added without hesitation. “They are a tough and physical side who like to press, but it’s about what we do and we have proved what a good passing team we are.
“I’m sure that we will cause them problems going forward. It will be important for us to settle the game down and dictate the tempo. If we can do that, I am confident that we can make a return to winning ways.”
