SMITH ON DRAW

16 February 2013

Boss on home draw with County...

SADDLERS' boss, Dean Smith has given his reaction to our 1-1 home draw with Notts County.

"It was a fairly even game, so a draw was probably the fair result," he said. "We had the better of the first half and they were the better side after the break.

"The surface played a part today unfortunately but the ground staff did fantastically well to get the pitch ready.

"After we took the lead I felt that we were going to go on and win the game; we looked comfortable throughout the opening period and had a few chances to extend our lead.

"When we got in behind their midfield four, we always looked a threat but in the second half we didn't do as well and came under a bit of pressure.

"That said, at no stage during the game did we look like losing, which is a big plus for us.

"It shows how far we have come that we are disappointed with a point here. The players are putting in good performances all over the pitch and this point extends our unbeaten run and adds another point to our tally."
