SIX OF THE BEST FOR YOUTH TEAM

Heath leads the way with hat-trick to shake The Shakers...

THE SADDLERS' youth team ran out 6-2 winners against Bury as Jake Heath helped himself to a hat-trick.

"We started the game at a good tempo," said Academy Manager, Neil Woods. "Jake Heath and Reece Flanagan figured particularly strongly in the heart of midfield in the opening exchanges.

"We took the lead on the half-hour when Jacob Hobbis did well out wide and his cross found Amadou Bakayoko who notched his first goal for the club, which was pleasing.

"Five minutes later we followed it up with a second goal, as Heath finished off a fine individual effort.

"I felt that we were comfortable at the break without flowing. The second period started in a similar vein as the first, but Bury were able to pull a goal back.

"We decided to change things around a but  and it had the desired effect as for the next 25 minutes we played some great football that our visitors had little answer to.

"Jake Heath went on to complete his hat-trick, whilst Alex Reid and Wes Rush all got their names on the scresheet as Bury also grabbed a consolation effort to make it 6-2.

"There were a lot of good individual displays without us being as fluent as a team as I would have liked."

WALSALL: Jones, Kinsella, C. Williams, Flanagan, Dallison (Ashmore), Preston, McKenzie (Sinton), Heath, Bakayoko (Rush), Hobbis, Reid. Subs not used: Christopherou, Roberts.
