PATERSON FLYING

Nine and counting for wide-man...

JAMIE Paterson was the two-goal hero on Saturday as The Saddlers moved up to ninth in League One with a 3-1 victory over Oldham Athletic.

"It was a great three points," he said. "I'm happy to have scored twice to help us get back into winning ways and move up the table.

"I'm the type of player who will always try something different; sometimes it will come off and sometimes it won't, thankfully on Saturday it did and the two goals have made it nine for the season.

"I said at the start of the season that I would have been happy with ten goals, but now I'm just one off that target I want to get as many as I can.

"It shows what a good team we have here because we didn't crumble when we fell behind. Maybe a couple of years ago we would have done, but we kept our heads up, kept talking to each other and got our reward in the end.

"We must try and get ourselves on another run now and see where it takes us. We've showed that we can compete with and beat some of the best sides in League One, so we have nothing to fear.

"We now turn our attention to the next game at Doncaster. They are doing well but we won't go there and sit back; we'll be looking for the win."
