Youth team product bags first top-flight goal...

SADDLERS' youth team product, Matty Fryatt, celebrated his first Premier League goal at the weekend as he found the net in Hull City's 6-0 demolition of Fulham.

The local lad came through the Banks's Stadium ranks, where he was a regular on the scoresheet for the youth and reserve teams, before being handed his senior debut in September 2003.

He was loaned out to Carlisle United in order to gain regular competitive experience and after a fruitful spell with The Cumbrians, he returned to establish himself in the Walsall team where he notched 30 goals in a total of 78 appearances to mark him out as a rising star to watch.

Joining Leicester City at the turn of 2006, he was top scorer as the club won promotion in 2008/09 before joining Hull City for a fee of over £1 million three years ago.

Everyone here at Walsall FC congratulates Matty on his first top-flight goal - hopefully it will be the first of many.
