BOSS ON GILLS DRAW

29 December 2013

Smith reflects on dramatic finale...

SADDLERS' boss, Dean Smith, has reflected upon our 2-2 draw at Gillingham as we recovered from going a goal down early in the second half to take the lead in the last minute only for our hosts to level matters in stoppage time.

"We were disappointed not to get the three points in the end," he said. "Fair play to my players, though, as I thought they were magnificent.

"We kept the ball well and frustrated them for long periods. They tried to make life difficult for us but we played some good stuff and forced them to back up against us.

"On the whole we put in a very good performance and even when we went a goal down, we kept doing the right things and almost got our reward.

"We're really close to being a good team; there's a steeliness and belief about us allied to some good football.

"There is a lot for us to be positive about as we go into the New Year."
