Saddlers' boss pleased with opening day display...
SADDLERS' boss, Dean Smith, has reflected upon our 3-1 opening day victory over Tranmere Rovers."It was a pleasing start," he beamed. "We controlled the game for the opening 35 minutes and deservedly found ourselves two goals to the good, but they pulled a fantastic goal back and we became a bit too predictable for a spell.
"Once we got the third goal it gave everyone confidence and belief to get back to what we were previously doing and it the end we ran out worthy winners.
"I've always had belief in the players; we created a number of chances today and could have been out of sight. The front four worked really well and the back four did their job when called upon.
"It was a good start and a pleasing performance, but I feel we can get better.
"We now look forward to the next game on Tuesday evening."
