GOOD WIN FOR YOUNGSTERS

27 August 2013

Latest triumph for youth team.

THE SADDLERS' youth team secured an impressive 3-1 victory over Burnley.

"It was an outstanding game of football between two bright, organised teams," said Academy Manager, Neil Woods. "Our visitors started the brighter and enjoyed some good spells of possession. That said, our organisation was good and we managed to capitalise upon a mistake to open the scoring through Amadou Bakayoko.

"The goal saw us take control of the game for the next ten minutes or so and during this time we were able to double our advantage with a fine solo goal from Carlton McKenzie.

"That's how the scoreline stayed at the break but Burnley came out brightly at the start of the second period and managed to reduce the arrears.

"Both sides looked like causing problems. I was pleased with the way in which we showed character when our visitors were on top and we were rewarded with another impressive goal, this time from Wes Rush.

"Both teams played their part but in the end we had the edge to secure a hard-earned three points."

WALSALL: Jones, Ashmore, Henry, Kinsella, K. Rowley, Christopherou, McKenzie (L. Rowley), Delaney (Dallison), Bakayoko (Shakespeare), Rush, A. Reid. Subs not used: Lovett, Probert.
