Downing delighted at start...
PAUL Downing has played his part in The Saddlers' positive start to the season with some assured displays in the heart of the back-line."All of the lads are delighted with the start we have made," said the former West Bromwich Albion youngster. "We've got some early points on the board to give us a foundation on which we can kick-on now.
"The fact that we've stood up to the physicality of the last two games will stand us in good stead and shows another side of our game.
"The clean sheet that we kept in our last game will settle us down; it's what we base ourselves on as defenders and hopefully it will be the first of many this season.
"We'll be given a real test on Saturday. Notts County were one of the best teams we faced here last season, but we're at home and fully focussed on the task of extending our unbeaten start.
"The important thing is to stay consistent and not look too far ahead of ourselves. We can't ask for much more than the start we have made."
