SADDLERS' boss, Dean Smith, was a happy man after seeing his side triumph 2-1 at Port Vale in the Capital One Cup."The pitch was sticky, but we were well organised and stuck at the task in hand,"he said. "We knew we had to come here and stand firm and we defended well.
"It could have gone either way but our response to their equaliser was fantastic; we played some of our best stuff in the final 20 minutes and it was a great goal from Bax to win it.
"The fitness levels of the lads are very good and we finished strongly.
"It was a great result on the road where we had to show character.
"That's two wins in a row now. We have another tough game at the weekend, but our confidence is high."
