Baxendale full of confidence...

JAMES Baxendale curled home a sweet winner to give The Saddlers Capital One Cup progress at Port Vale on Tuesday evening.

The talented wide-man, who recently penned a new three-year deal, played his part in an impressive display.

"I felt that we kept a good shape with everyone doing their job and working hard," he said. "We dealt with their threats but that comes from being well-organised.

"We've got players here that can change games. I enjoyed my goal and for it to be the winner and come in front of the away fans was an added bonus.

"We know look forward to seeing who we get in Thursday's second round draw."

Baxendale has been in good form throughout the summer. "I've been pleased with my performances during pre-season and the first two games," he added. "The competition we have here is good and keeps us all on our toes.

"I just have to keep working hard and doing the right things and the rewards will come.

"Our attention now turns to the trip to Oldham on Saturday. It will be another tough one for us, but there are no easy games in this League.

"We will recover from Tuesday and be prepared and ready to go again."
