Narrow defeat for youth team...

THE SADDLERS' youth team slipped to a narrow 1-0 defeat at Burnley.

"We made a good start to the game," said youth coach, Graham Biggs. "We played our usual passing style but were unable to break the deadlock.

"We should have had a goal during the opening period when, following some good possession, the ball appeared to have crossed the line by the referee failed to give it.

"For the opening half-an-hour or so we were easily the better side but then skipper, Matt Preston was forced off with a back injury and after that our hosts started to gradually get on top.

"Burnley were brighter in the second half and took the lead within the opening five minutes.

"We made a couple of tactical changes and pushed on for the equaliser but unfortunately we were unable to do it.

"It looked like one game too many for us. It's been a busy schedule and it showed. The lads can't be faulted for effort and endeavour but we just didn't have enough in the tank to get a point out of the game."

WALSALL: R. Jones, Kinsella, Henry, Christopherou, Preston (Dallison), Flanagan, Heath, Hobbis (McKenzie), Rush, Reid (Bakayoko), Griffiths. Subs not used: Ashmore, Garner.
