WOODS ON RESERVES STALEMATE

9 April 2013

Second-string boss on goalless draw...

THE SADDLERS' second-string played out a goalless draw with Hartlepool United here at Banks's Stadium.

"We were very bright in the first half," said reserve team boss, Neil Woods. "We created numerous chances but it was very similar to our last game when our build-up play was outstanding but we lacked a clinical finish at the end of it.

"We didn't present as much as a threat after the break, but some of the credit for that must go to Hartlepool.

"Nevertheless we continued to create opportunities and the quality of our football was bright without getting any reward in terms of the final result.

"We had the chance to get 90 minutes into the likes of Richard Taundry and Nicky Featherstone whilst at the same time cast our eyes over some of the younger lads and trialists."

WALSALL: Belshaw, Taundry, Benning (Christopherou), Featherstone, Holden (C. Williams), George, Sterling-James (Flanagan), Hawker, Bowerman, Sawyers, Hemmings. Subs not used: Griffiths, Roberts.
