SMITH PROUD

20 April 2013

Boss reflects...

SADDLERS' boss, Dean Smith, reflects on our draw with Bury as we just miss out on a place in the play-offs.

"We didn't play well today," he admitted. "I never felt that we were going to lose the game, but it is one we should have won.

"Their goal shouldn't have stood. As it was it didn't matter because Swindon won, but I told the match officials at the end that it could have been a crucial decision that they got wrong.

"The players know that they can play better than they did today. The pitch didn't help, but we don't want to make excuses.

"45 games in and to be where we are is a fantastic achievement; there are a lot of teams that would like to swap places with us.

"It was nice to see Feb get his name on the scoresheet. He's a likeable lad who has come close to scoring in recent matches.

"We're disappointed that we didn't win today, but everyone can be so proud of their efforts since Christmas. It's 15 games unbeaten for us now; it'll be a tough one for us at Crewe next weekend, and we are determined to extend that unbeaten run to the end of the season and finish in the right way."
