HOLDEN OVER-WHELMED BY SUPPORT

22 April 2013

Defender thanks the fans for their genorosity in Meningitis Trust fund-raising...

THE WALSALL Football Supporters Trust handed over a cheque for £2,600 to Dean and Danielle Holden at their End of Season Party on Saturday evening from monies raised at their various events this season in support of Meningitis Trust.

Over 150 people were present in The Saddlers Club on Saturday night, including manager, Dean Smith and his family plus Dean and Danielle Holden. They were entertained with live music from local bands, Charlie and The Martyrs and Lowfield, in what was a successful night.

"I would like to praise the Walsall fans for their response to the fund-raising for Meningitis Trust this season," said Trust Secretary, Steve Davies. "It never ceases to amaze me how deep Saddlers' supporters dig for worthwhile causes such as this.

"It was also nice to see the likes of Dean Smith, Kyle Lightbourne and a number of Walsall FC staff attend the event.

"Big thanks are also due to The Saddlers Club for their fantastic support. It really was nice to see the Walsall FC family come together for this one and raise a good amount for Meningitis Trust.

"I know that Dean and Danielle Holden were over-whelmed with the support that they have been given by everyone at the club in what has been a difficult time for them."

Dean Holden added: "So much hard work went into organising the evening. It meant so much to Danielle and myself and we enjoyed meeting and chatting to so many supporters on Saturday night.

"The event went well and the amount that has been raised by Walsall supporters this season is truly outstanding. I've only been at the club since the summer, so I am over-whelmed by the kindness displayed and the support that I have received by the fans.

"The club has a very special and loyal group of fans here."
