DEALS FOR YOUTH TRIO

30 April 2013

Heath, Griffiths and Roberts offered professional deals...

THE SADDLERS have offered professional deals for the 2013/14 season to a further three members of the youth team squad.

Having already awarded professional contracts to Apprentice of the Season, Matt Preston, and midfield battler, Reece Flanagan, earlier this year, midfielder, Jake Heath, front-man, Danny Griffiths and goalkeeper, Liam Roberts, are the latest players to be offered terms.

Neil Woods' youth team have enjoyed another solid season in the League this term and also won the Midland Youth Cup last week as well as making it through to the Area Final of The Football League Youth Alliance Cup.

Heath has weighed in with nine League goals from midfield as well as appearing for the reserves, whilst front-man Griffiths has ten League goals to his name and has also had a taste of second-string action. Roberts meanwhile has been on the bench for the first-team during the final two months of the season.

"We've had a really strong youth team this year," said Saddlers' boss, Dean Smith. "The players and staff have worked extremely hard.

"The three lads deserve the opportunity to step up and join Matt Preston and Reece Flanagan in getting a professional deal for the new season. The hard work is only just beginning for them but I have every faith in them knuckling down and working hard.

"There were some tough decisions that had to be made and we wish those lads who didn't make it well in their future careers."
