BENNING READY

Youngster ready to do a job...

FIRST-year professional, Malvind Benning, was called upon during our last game against Sheffield United after Andy Taylor was forced to leave the field with a hamstring problem.

The 19 year-old slotted into the side and is looking forward to playing his part, if called upon, in the final games.

"It was a high tempo game to come into," admitted the youth team product. "I felt that I got into it as the game went on and I enjoyed it in the end.

"Sheffield United are a good side, but we created plenty of chances and were disappointed in the end that we couldn't put the game to bed and get the three points.

"That shows how far we have come this season and the draw extends our unbeaten run to 13 games and keeps us in the hunt for a place in the play-offs.

"We've got three League games to go, but we can't afford to be complacent. We travel to Scunthorpe on Saturday and they will be fighting for the points to get out of the relegation zone.

"We know that we have to stay focussed on the task in hand and remain on the front-foot and playing at a high tempo.

"It's a good thing that Scunthorpe still have something to play for and it's a game we are looking forward to.

"I'll be ready for it if I am called upon. The players like myself who are on the fringes of the team have to be ready to step in at any time and do a job."
