SMITH ON STEVENAGE SET-BACK

18 September 2012

Boss reflects on loss...

SADDLERS’ boss, Dean Smith has reflected upon our 3-1 defeat at Stevenage.

“There were a lot of positives to come out of the game despite the defeat,” he said. “We came up against a front-foot team who like to get the tackles in, but we still tried to play the right way.

“The lads kept plugging away throughout, playing the way that we want to. We managed to get ourselves back in it with a good goal as Jamie Paterson and George Bowerman linked up well once more, but we got sloppy in possession at times.

“I felt that we started brightly and passed the ball well; there was nothing in it during the first half, so it was disappointing to go in behind.

“But we regrouped for the second period. The lads kept believing, didn’t let their heads drop and we’ll pick ourselves up, dust ourselves down and be ready for another big game on Saturday.”
