Youth team romp to victory...

IT WAS six of the best for The Saddlers' youth team as we romped to a 6-0 victory over Tranmere Rovers.

"We had talked at length during the previous week about being able to bring both sides of our game together," said Academy Manager, Neil Woods. "From the very first whistle we matched how good we were with the ball with how good we were without it and we totally dominated throughout the full 90 minutes.

"What's more we scored six well-taken goals to make it a very good day at the office for us.

"We found ourselves four goals to the good at the break and fully deserved to be in that position. It would have been easy to take our foot off the gas and not reproduce the same level of performance in the second half, but, to a man, we were excellent.

"Dan Griffiths went on to claim a hat-trick which was reward for the hard work he has put in so far this season, whilst Jacob Hobbis, Jake Heath and Carlton McKenzie also go their names on the scoresheet.

"I was pleased with the impact that each of our substitutes made as well. Everyone can be pleased with their contribution; all the pieces came together nicely and the task now is to maintain these standards."

WALSALL: Roberts, Kinsella (Ashmore), Williams, Flanagan (Sinton), Dallison, Preston, Hobbis, Heath, Griffiths, Rush, McKenzie (Reid). Subs not used: Christopherou, Garner.
