SADDLERS SNAP UP 'KEEPER

21 September 2012

Darlow arrives on loan...

THE SADDLERS have completed the signing of highly-rated Nottingham Forest goalkeeper, Karl Darlow on a one-month loan deal, subject to the necessary clearance being received.

The 21 year-old was with Aston Villa during his formative years before joining the Nottingham Forest Academy at the age of 16.

He has progressed well since then and has made a couple of first-team appearances for the City Ground outfit, the first of which came at the end of the 2010/11 campaign.

Last term he was loaned out to Newport County, where he gained much-needed competitive first-team action and impressed many with some assured displays that belied his tender years.

“With Wacka being out injured, Karl is a goalkeeper that we have watched a number of times recently,” said Saddlers’ boss, Dean Smith. “He is very highly-rated at Forest, so I am delighted to be able to bring him here for a month.

“He will certainly strengthen us and add to the group.”

Darlow will wear squad number 27 and, subject to the necessary clearance being received, will be available for Saturday’s home clash with Preston North End.
