HOLDEN ON FOR A HERO

10 September 2012

Centre back reflects on a solid display...

CENTRAL defender, Dean Holden marked a superb performance against MK Dons with the winning goal as we extended our unbeaten League run to four games.

"It was just a brilliant day all-round," he said with a smile. "We knew it would be tough as MK Dons are a good side, but we worked hard in the build-up to the game on exploiting their weaknesses and it paid off.

"They saw a lot of the ball in the second half, but as a team we played very well and deserved the victory in the end. We were eager to prove people wrong after conceding two late goals in our last game, and I feel that we did that.

"We work extremely hard in training on our shape and being solid as  a unit and we saw that on Saturday, particularly in the second half.

"The win extends our unbeaten League run and gives us something positive to take into the two tough away matches that follow. The way that we move the ball around, teams don't fancy playing against us and if we can add the defensive qualities that we showed on Saturday, then it will certainly stand us in good stead."
