GADSBY FAMILY TOUCHED BY RECEPTION

10 September 2012

Vital funds raised for Charity in memory of Matt Gadsby...

WE WERE delighted to welcome members of the late Matt Gadsby's family to Banks's Stadium on Saturday as guests of the club and Walsall Football Supporters Trust.

The following day marked the sixth anniversary of Matt's untimely death, at the age of just 27, whilst playing for Hinckley United and the family took the opportunity to raise funds and awareness for the CRY (Cardiac Risk in the Young) Charity.

Over £620 was raised from a matchday bucket collection, whilst the family also received a very warm reception from supporters during the half-time interval, which really touched them.

On behalf of the family, Walsall FC would like to thank both sets of supporters for their generosity and also extend our appreciation to the Walsall Football Supports Trust for making the necessary arrangements.

Matt Gasdby will never be forgotten here at Walsall FC. He came through the ranks to make over 50 senior appearances for the club and was part of the squad that achieved promotion at Millennium Stadium in 2001, a special moment in the history of the club.

The Walsall Legends team will be taking on a team of Walsall supporters this coming Sunday afternoon at Dales Lane, home of Rushall Olympic, in a Charity Match whereby CRY will be one of the chosen charities. A number of former Walsall players will be in attendance, so come along and show your support. Kick-off is 3.00pm.
