New-boy relishing League One challenge...

THERE must be something about The Saddlers and goalkeepers from Nottingham clubs after Karl Darlow checked in on loan from Nottingham Forest to join former Notts County custodians, David Grof and James Walker at Banks's Stadium.

The 21 year-old has progressed well at the City Ground in recent years and is tipped very much as one for the future.

"Hopefully I can come in and bring a solid presence to the back-line," he said. "I want to make saves when required and generally go about my business in a quiet and efficient manner.

"This is a good move for me as I need to get games and build on the experience that I gained last year at Newport County in the Blue Square Premier. So, when the opportunity came to join a League One club, I couldn't refuse.

"I was with Forest during their time in League One and I know from their experience how difficult this level is. There is a lot of quality in this League, but it is a challenge that I am looking forward to.

"The set-up here is brilliant; everyone has been so welcoming and it is clear to see that there is a good, positive spirit around the place. I've played at Banks's Stadium before for Forest reserves, so it will be nice to be here as a Walsall player.

"My initial aim is to get in the team and then put in some consistent performances that will reflect on the team in a positive manner."

Darlow has been handed squad number 27.

Don't forget that there is a special Link-Up ticket offer available for Saturday's game and our clash with Leyton Orient on Tuesday' October 2nd whereby great savings can be made if tickets are purchased at the same ticket before Saturday.
