DARLOW DOING WELL

28 September 2012

Young 'keeper enjoying early life with The Saddlers...

YOUNG goalkeeper, Karl Darlow was thrown straight in at the deep end in the last game as he made his Saddlers’ debut just hours after signing on loan from Nottingham Forest.

The 21 year-old played his part in a convincing 3-1 victory over Preston North End, recovering well after conceding an early goal.

“The whole point of coming here was to play as many games as possible, so it was great to start straight away,” he said. “It’s all part of the learning process and I enjoyed the experience.

“There is a positive attitude running throughout the team so that helped me settle in quickly.

“The back four was steady in the last game; we’ve got some experienced heads in there with younger lads in front of them to help us behind from the front.

“It certainly helps playing behind so much experience and know-how and that can only help my own game.

“Hopefully we will be able to build on the Preston result at Bournemouth. It will be a tough test, but if we stick to what we know and pass the ball around, it will certainly stand us in good stead.

“It’s a busy time with the matches coming thick and fast, but the aim is to continue accumulating points and for myself personally, I just want to go about my business in a quiet and efficient manner and do my job to the best of my ability.

“This is a very professional and well-run club. We train hard and everyone knows their role and what is expected of them, but at the same time there is a good atmosphere around the training ground.”

If you are unable to make it along to the game on Saturday, fear not as Saddlers Player will have live, full match commentary…
