Smith reflects on Bees draw...

SADDLERS' boss, Dean Smith has reflected upon our 2-2 home draw with Brentford.

"Obviously I am disappointed that with us being 2-0 up with five minutes to go, we didn't win the game," he said. "Fair play to Brentford, they finished the stronger and it looked as though our midweek game started to take its toll on us.

"We had a very young team out there and when they pulled a goal back it gave them the impetus. I felt that we sat too deep at times throughout the second half.

"When we went two goals up it looked as though we would run away with the game. We didn't want half-time to come; it allowed our visitors to regroup and they put us under pressure in the second half.

"I was pleased to see George Bowerman get his name on the scoresheet and also provide an assist. He has worked hard and earned the right to make his first start today. He knows that he had to remain level-headed and keep working hard at his game.

"We're very much a work in progress and we will pick ourselves up ready for the next game. There were a lot of positives to take out of the match, especially in the first half and it extends our unbeaten League run.

"We'll analyse what we did well and not so well during the week and I have every faith that these players will get better and better as the season goes on."
