Boss on battling display...

SADDLERS' boss, Dean Smith was proud of the way his side battled for 76 minutes with ten men at unbeaten Sheffield United.

Central defender, Dean Holden was dismissed for a professional foul following a poor backpass from Jamie Paterson.

"We showed plenty of resolve and played some good football at times," he said. "We were very organised and when we did get the ball, we kept it well.

"To say that we played for so long with ten men, Karl Darlow didn't have too much to do; it would have been nice to see how things would have panned out had it been 11v11.

"Mistakes happen. We don't have a blame culture here, so we'll learn from it and move on.

"Even with ten men we deserved to get something out of the game. We didn't start as well as we have done in recent games, but, as I say, we were organised and resolute.

"There was a good shout for a penalty when their 'keeper fouled Will Grigg, but it wasn't to be and now we have to prepare right for the next game at the weekend."
