SADDLERS BREEZE PAST SHREWS

1 October 2012

Convincing win for youth team...

THE SADDLERS' youth team got back into winning ways at the weekend with a 4-0 triumph over Shrewsbury Town.

"After a positive week on the training ground, we managed to bounce back from defeat in our previous game," said Academy Manager, Neil Woods. "The lads started in a positive fashion and we deservedly took an early lead with a fine individual goal from Jacob Hobbis.

"Ten minutes later it was 2-0 as Dan Griffiths found the net and that is how the scoreline stayed at half-time.

"We didn't play to the tempo that I know we are capable of during the opening period, but nevertheless we were comfortable.

"We totally dominated during the second half and were able to add two further goals from the penalty spot from Jake Heath.

"It gave us the opportunity to try a few things and get some game time into players who haven't figured as much so far, such as Amadou Bakayogo who looked lively when he came on.

"All in all it was a good reaction to our defeat in the previous game as we put in a solid performance."

WALSALL: Roberts, Ashmore, Williams, Sinton (Kinsella), Preston, Dallison, Hobbis (Bakayogo), Heath, Griffiths, Flanagan, McKenzie (Rush). Subs not used: Garner, Christopherou.
