Boss looks ahead to Iron visit...

WE'VE played a lot better than our last two performances and got nothing out of games, so to come away from Bury and Lincoln undefeated gives us something to build upon.

We now face three home games over the next week. The matches are certainly coming thick and fast but we are looking forward to the challenge that each one will present to us.

First up we take on a Scunthorpe United side who are attempting to kick-start their season under Brian Laws. He is an experienced manager who has had success at the club before and they will come here well-organised and up for the task in hand.

Looking back at Saturday’s FA Cup first round draw with Lincoln City, it was a case of perseverance being the key. We started the game well and passed the ball around early on but didn’t have the necessary penetration.

Their goal on the stroke of half-time gave them the impetus and we fell below the standards we have set ourselves after that. The lads know that we are better than that, but we dug in and live to fight another day in the competition.

The hope now is that we can finish the job off in the replay next week.

Before that, though, we have vital League points up for grabs and we will be going all out to get the result that we crave on Tuesday evening. As ever, the back of our supporters is going to be crucial in this.
