TEAM TALK v LINCOLN (REPLAY), 13/11/12

Boss looks ahead to FA Cup first round replay...

WE KNOW plenty about Lincoln City and are under no illusions about the task in hand, but if we play to our capabilities then we will beat them.

We will give our opponents the respect that they deserve, but there is plenty of belief amongst the lads and hopefully progression into the next round will give us the kick-start that we need.

The FA Cup means a lot to me; it is a special competition and this club is long overdue a Cup run. To progress will help the club in so many ways. Financially the prize money will be most welcome and in terms of winning matches and moving through the rounds, this will help boost our confidence and galvanise the club.

We’ve prepared well for this game over the past few days and are ready to get out there and get back to doing what served us so well throughout September.

Looking back at Saturday’s home defeat at the hands of Swindon Town, it was a really tough game for us against possibly the best side we have faced so far this season in terms of fitness, physicality and quality play.

That said, I felt that we displayed plenty of endeavour and there were moments of quality in our play, but unfortunately not enough.

The lads worked really hard; we had a good penalty appeal turned down just before Swindon scored their second goal and had that been given, who knows how things would have panned out?

I must say that I thought Malvind Benning was excellent in his first start for the club and fully deserved the Man of the Match award. He is a young lad with a really bright future ahead of him if he continues to work hard.
