TEAM TALK v LINCOLN CITY, 3/11/12

Boss ready to get on the FA Cup trail...

THE FA Cup is a big competition for us. It's a long time since this club had a decent run in it, so hopefully this will be our year.

That said, we have a tough first obstacle to overcome. Lincoln City may be in the lower half of the Blue Square Premier table, but they are a former League club who know what it's all about.

They have some good players who try to play football the right way and they will fancy their chances, particularly on home soil.

But if we approach the game in the right way and perform to the level that I know we are capable of, our extra quality should prove too much for them.

It's about being at it on the day and earning the right to play.

The FA Cup is really important for the club, not just because of the financial rewards that it can bring, but also to give the supporters something to cheer about and look forward to.

It is a competition that can capture everyone's imagination and our supporters will have another key role to play at Sincil Bank.

We received fantastic backing at Bury last weekend and we need our fans right behind us once again as we aim to make it into Sunday's second round draw.

The month of October wasn't the best for us in terms of results, but our performances have been there and it's funny how one of our poorest performances of the season in the last game yielded a point at Bury.
