Saddlers make Birmingham Senior Cup progress...

THE SADDLERS made it into the next round of the Birmingham Senior Cup with a convincing 6-1 victory at Romulus on a wet night at Coles Lane.

Aaron Williams led the way with a hat-trick whilst George Bowerman weighed in with a brace and Kierion Morris added the other goal.

"It was an excellent performance," said reserve team boss, Richard O'Kelly. "The attitude of our lads was first-class and they did a real professional job.

"We pressed from the very first whistle and went two goals up early on. We looked comfortable and in control going into the break.

"Our hosts pressed at the start of the second period and managed to pull a goal back during what was our only poor spell. But we soon managed to get into our stride and get on top to add four further goals and complete the job.

"The conditions weren't great, but credit to Romulus, they kept battling away and presented us with a challenge that we managed to overcome in a very professional manner."

Ben Purkiss got 45 minutes of action under his belt as he returns from a recent hamstring problem.

WALSALL: Grof, George, Benning, Purkiss (Preston), Downing, Jones, Morris, Baxendale, A. Chambers (Heath), Bowerman (Flanagan), A. Williams.

Meanwhile our Central League clash at Port Vale, which was due to take place on December 12th, has now been moved to Wednesday, January 23rd with a 1.00pm kick-off at the Valiants' Training Ground.
