Young side makes Walsall Senior Cup progress...

A SADDLERS' under-21 side made it into the next round of the Walsall Senior Cup with a 4-0 victory over Sporting Khalsa.

"It was an outstanding performance from our young team on the back of a frustrating week," said Academy Manager, Neil Woods. "The lads showed enthusiasm, desire and a fabulous attitude as they look to force their way into the manager's first-team plans.

"The main reason for entering competition's like this is so that the younger lads can play against men in a more physical battle than maybe they have been used to.

"We stood up to the challenge well and, credit to Sporting Khalsa, they played their part, but in the end the scoreline was a true reflection of our dominance."

Youth team striker, Danny Griffiths gave The Saddlers a 20-minute lead before Aaron Williams doubled our advantage ten minutes before the interval.

Williams then added further goals in the 55th and 80th minutes to complete his hat-trick in a game which saw Paul Downing and Ashley Hemmings also figure.

WALSALL: Roberts, George, Benning, Flanagan (Sinton), Downing (Christopherou), Preston, Morris, Heath, A. Williams, Griffiths, Hemmings (Hobbis). Subs not used: R. Jones, C. Williams.
