PERSEVERANCE THE KEY

Boss on Sincil Bank draw

SADDLERS' boss, Dean Smith has reflected upon our 1-1 draw at Lincoln City in the first round of the FA Cup.

"Perseverance was the key today," he said. "I have a cabinet of matches in my head where I put games that I never want to watch again, and this one will go in there!

"We started reasonably well and passed the ball around but lacked any real penetration. Their goal gave them the impetus and we were poor after that.

"That said, we stuck at the task in hand and we're still in the Cup, which was the aim at the start of the day.

"The performance was not good enough and the lads know that, but we have a chance to put it right in the replay.

"It was a case of digging in and battling and now we get ready for another tough challenge on Tuesday evening. The games are coming thick and fast and it means that we have a run  of three home games in a row coming up, which we are looking forward to."
