McCAREY OVER THE MOON

16 November 2012

New loan 'keeper thrilled by Saddlers' switch...

HIGHLY-rated Wolves goalkeeper, Aaron McCarey checked into Banks's Stadium today on an initial one-month loan deal.

The 20 year-old is relishing the prospect of getting his first taste of Football League action having impressed whilst coming through the Molineux ranks.

"I'm over the moon," he said. "This is a great opportunity for me to play at a good level with a good club.

"It's the chance to further my career, gain experience and also help Walsall in the process. I just want to play as often as I can during the month, help the club collect some points and move up the table and then take things from there.

"I've played at Banks's Stadium during pre-season and spoke to Mick Halsall at Wolves, who had plenty of good things to say about the club. The set-up here is good and the manager likes to give youth a chance, so I'm really looking forward to the month ahead."

So what does the Republic of Ireland Under-21 International feel are his main strengths. "I'm very vocal and certainly like to have my say," he said with a wry smile. "I'm not afraid to come for crosses and feel that I am also a good kicker."

The former Monaghan United stopper is in line to make his debut at Crawley Town on Saturday. "It'll be a tough start because they have started the season well," he went on. "But this is a strong League and I'm not expecting any game to be easy.

"It's the sort of challenge that I need and if the lads can put on a performance, there is no reason why we can't bring home a result."

McCarey will wear squad number 32.
