McCAREY LOOKING FORWARD TO HOME BOW

22 November 2012

Young 'keeper making a good impression...

ON-LOAN goalkeeper, Aaron McCarey stands by to make his home debut at the weekend as we take on Hartlepool United.

The 20 year-old has put in two impressive performances on the road this week where he displayed an old head on young shoulders. "People say that I'm laid-back," he said. "But it's all part-and-parcel of the job for a goalkeeper, you have to be a calming influence and if you can do that it will spread throughout the team.

"We've put in two impressive team performances in our last couple of games and in the end we deserved to take more than two points. The important thing now, though, is to make sure that we win on Saturday.

"It was great to keep a clean sheet at Tranmere and now I want to build on it. This is a massive opportunity for me, one that I have had to be patient and wait a long time for.

"I intend to grab it with both hands and help myself as well as helping Walsall climb up the table.

"I'm delighted to be at a good club, with a good set of lads and the chance to play at 3.00pm on a Saturday is good for me and all part of my learning curve."
