MANTOM READY TO MAKE HIS MARK

Loan signing ready to get stuck in...

SAM MANTOM returned to The Saddlers today determined to hit the ground running and make an impact.

The 20 year-old has signed on loan initially until January and will be looking to continue where he left off at the end of last season.

"I'm delighted to be back here," he said. "I got the call on Wednesday and, to be fair, it was a no brainer to come back.

"I know what this club is all about and it was an easy decision to make once I heard that Dean Smith was interested in me. I have monitored every game this season; I'm a local lad and have friends who are Walsall fans, so I know all about how things have been going and I've heard very good reports about the style of play.

"There are a number of new faces here from last season, but it's good to see Flo back here and hopefully he can get back to fitness as quickly as possible.

"If we keep doing the right things and playing the right way, the results will start to come again and it would be nice to think that I can help us get three points against Swindon on Saturday.

"Paolo Di Canio is a top boss and we know they will be organised and give us a tough game, but I can't wait to get out there and play. The lads have belief in our ability and if we can be strong as a unit and put on a performance, I am confident that we can get back into winning ways again.

"I've not set myself any targets just yet. I want to take stock of the situation, speak to my dad and see where we're at once I been here for a bit longer. What I will say is that I am looking forward to getting competitive action under my belt."
