HOLDEN LEADS BY EXAMPLE

Central defender delighted with work ethic...

CENTRAL defender, Dean Holden took over the captain's armband in place of the suspended Andy Butler at Tranmere on Tuesday evening and played his part in a solid display.

"We've picked up a couple of good points in the last two games," he said. "We've come up against high-flying opposition and proved something to ourselves more than anything else.

"We've competed as a team and worked hard for each other and could have easily had more points to show for our efforts.

"First and foremost we have to roll our sleeves up and be prepared to work in order to get a foot-hold in the game, which we certainly did on Tuesday.

"We created some good chances and got the belief that comes with that kind of performance at the League leaders.

"The groundwork has been put in but it will count for nothing if we don't get three points at the weekend."
