BENNING HAPPY WITH FIRST START

13 November 2012

Youngster looking to push on...

FIRST-year professional, Malvind Benning followed up his impressive display off the bench against Scunthorpe United with a Man of the Match performance in his first senior start for The Saddlers against Swindon Town.

The youth team product has been an assured figure for the reserves over the past couple of seasons and has been on the fringes of the first-team this term before grabbing his chance with both hands.

"I was very pleased to get my chance on Saturday," said the local lad. "I was nervous before the game but I felt that it panned out well for me personally. Obviously it would have made the day complete had we won the game.

"Hopefully I have showed the Gaffer what I am capable of over these past couple of games. Now that my chance has come, I just want to keep working hard and stay in and around the team.

"Recent results haven't been great, but we have the players here who can turn things around. We need to build up our confidence levels and push on and a good FA Cup run would help in this.

"If we can build on the performance against Swindon, we will be okay on Tuesday evening. I expect Lincoln to be in our faces straight away and give us no time on the ball, but we have the quality to overcome it."
